Puerto Quetzal is located in the department of Escuintla, on the Pacific coast , 98 Km from the capital city , however since its inception in 1983 used with success a mixed system to allow individuals to provide certain services to ship and cargo rates fixed by the Company and approved by Government Agreement . The main spring is marginal and serving vessels are bulk solid container ships, tank , gas carrier , barge, refrigerators , general cargo, roll on - roll off , cruise and cargo ships other than the above.
